Artist's Description

This was painted from a Polaroid black and white shot I took while camping in Clarno, Oregon. I wanted it to be a study in contrasts of complementary colors as well as the rounded hills contrasted to the sharp brush.

I spent part of my childhood surrounded by the beauty of the Mojave Desert, around Victorville, California, and spent another part of my childhood in Northern Illinois farm country, in Ridgefield, Crystal Lake, and Belvidere. As a result, I love depicting Country scenes, and, particularly a subject I call "A Vanishing America." Drawing was what I did as soon as I could hold a pencil. At about 15, my brother (also an artist) gave me a set of professional watercolors. I was thrilled and immediately felt a new sense of seriousness about my art. I even sold a few at county fairs and to friends, but for pretty cheap. I attended college at B.I.O.L.A. (The Bible Institute of Los Angeles), where I minored in Art and joined The La...
