This is painted from a photo I took near my brother's ranch in Northern California, outside of Montague. The action of the light and clouds in that area, brings constant changes to the landscape, with a different kind of beauty every few seconds.
I spent part of my childhood surrounded by the beauty of the Mojave Desert, around Victorville, California, and spent another part of my childhood in Northern Illinois farm country, in Ridgefield, Crystal Lake, and Belvidere. As a result, I love depicting Country scenes, and, particularly a subject I call "A Vanishing America." Drawing was what I did as soon as I could hold a pencil. At about 15, my brother (also an artist) gave me a set of professional watercolors. I was thrilled and immediately felt a new sense of seriousness about my art. I even sold a few at county fairs and to friends, but for pretty cheap. I attended college at B.I.O.L.A. (The Bible Institute of Los Angeles), where I minored in Art and joined The La...
